Welcome to RUTA! We are a Bay Area-based pro-democracy activist group begun at the very start of Trump 1.0. We came together as a group of friends and neighbors to channel our fear and despair into action and have grown to a membership of over 1300 dedicated activists. One of our guiding beliefs is that taking action is more satisfying, sustainable, and fun (!) when we do it together, and we manifest that in the many ways that we organize.

We are involved in ongoing activities ranging from voter education and engagement (door-to-door canvassing, postcarding, text and phone banking, election protection) to immigrant defense and more. We show up at schools, parks, businesses, courts, and the streets to protect and defend our immigrant neighbors and friends.

We also host a resistance/resilience choir and a weekly freeway overpass brigade (complete with joyful dancing and pompoms!) with rotating pro-democracy, anti-fascist messages for drivers-by.

The community we have created fuels our determination to continue our work in these troubling times.
